Budget Meeting Summary – Police Department Discussion
A significant portion of this budget meeting focused on the police department, including staffing levels and the department’s pay structure.
During the meeting, the Police Chief stated that the conditions that led to the major staffing loss two years ago are close to happening again. He repeated this concern a couple of times to ensure the council understood the seriousness of the situation.
Tax increases were also discussed, along with the need to look closely at how we prioritize spending our tax dollars.
Staffing, pay structure, and job role definitions will continue to be reviewed as part of the ongoing budget process.
