Before the Council Votes on the Village Attorney Agreement
Before the Council votes, can the Mayor or the Attorney explain why Foxfire should commit to a three-year agreement without first seeking proposals from other municipal law firms—especially when many of the same questions surrounding the pool project remain unanswered?
At the next meeting, the Council is being asked to approve an agreement that would keep the current attorney through June 2029, with automatic annual rate increases already written into the contract.
Residents still have questions about how the pool project was handled, including procurement, contracting, oversight, licensing, and the legal advice provided throughout the process. Before committing to another three years, taxpayers deserve to know whether the Village has explored other legal options and whether a fresh perspective could better serve Foxfire.
Before approving this agreement, the Council should:
• Seek proposals from other qualified municipal law firms
• Compare experience, qualifications, and costs
• Allow residents to review the alternatives
• Explain why renewing this contract is in the Village’s best interest
Until the outstanding questions surrounding the pool project are addressed—and until alternative legal service options have been evaluated—the Council should delay action on this agreement.
Foxfire deserves answers before another three‑year commitment is made. Let your Council members know where you stand.
